BLAST has unveiled that the Mexican city of Monterrey has secured hosting rights to the inaugural edition of BLAST Rivals. The announcement was made live on broadcast during the first day of the BLAST Bounty Finals, in Copenhagen.
The event will be held between April 30 and May 4 and feature eight sides. The teams ranked first through fourth in Valve's Regional Standings will be directly invited to the event, with the remaining spots filled by one team from Europe, North America, South America and Asia apiece.
In addition to $350,000 in prize money, there will be $650,000 up for grabs in participation fees. The first two days of the tournament will be played without a crowd before the Escenario GNP Seguros, a multi-purpose arena located in the center of Monterrey, opens its doors to the public for the last three days of the event.
