Ajustar resolucion web

Buenas, tengo un pequeño problema a la hora de ver mi web en el explorador. Resulta que la web la tengo diseñada para una resolucion de 800600, entonces por ejemplo, gente que tiene resoluciones como 1024768 ven un rementro trozo blanco a la derecha de su explorador, entonces me gustaría saber si hay algun codigo, o alguna manera de poder solucionar este problema.

He buscado en este y en otros foros temas relacionados y ninguno me ha dado una solucion concreta porque he probado mil maneras de hacerlo...

¿ Alguien sabe como solucionarlo ?

Yo es que las tablas sólo las uso para el contenido tabulado. Después de ver ese código lo único que puedo decirte es que le pongas el color o imagen de fondo al body.

Hola.

Una ayudita a tu problema es centrar el contenido al marco de la página. De esta manera, da igual la resolución que tengas la página siempre estará en el centro. Un código simple para hacerlo es el siguiente.

    <div id="general">
       Pon código aquí
    </div>
</body>

Y en la hoja de estilo pones esto.

#general
{
	background-color: Red;
	width: 800px; //Aquí el tamaño de la capa 
	margin: auto;
}

Lo he puesto rojito el fondo para que notes donde se sitúa la capa.

Ahora si aun quieres que se vea bien con todas las resoluciones, debes olvidarte de los tamaños fijos y pasarte al de los porcentajes. Es un mundo diferente, donde las cosas nunca encajan al milímetro sobretodo si vas a usar imágenes pero a base de probar puede salir algo bonito.

#6 Esto funciona en F3, IE7, sin el doctype en IE7 no centra la página. Supongo que será con el que habrás probado. Fallo mi no ponerlo :!. Puedes usar otro tipo, este ejemplo es para xthml.
