It is a fully-funded position that requires admission to the Ph.D. program of the department. Applicants must hold a Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field. A good command of English is required. The offered package includes:
- A salaried position for up to three years (subject to performance).
- Health insurance.
- Tuition and Ph.D. program fees.
- The opportunity to pursue research under the supervision of the senior members of the NeTS group.
- Travel expenses and registration costs to publish in top conferences.
- Participation in national and international research projects.
- Participating as a teaching assistant in the undergraduate programs offered at UPF.
The research carried out by the candidate will be aligned with the research interests of the NeTS group. The following are three examples of research topics that are suitable for this position.
Aquí están algunas de las líneas de investigación en las que os podríais enrolar:
Title: Next Generation Wireless Multi-hop Networks.
Abstract: Wireless technology is rapidly advancing in a context of more powerful radios and demand for higher throughput and coverage.
The aim of this research project is to develop next-generation wireless MAC protocols for future mesh networks that makes an effective use of the available spectrum resources by combining decentralized collision-free transmission schedules, advanced multiple antenna techniques and dynamic channel access mechanisms.
Title: Cooperative Sensor networks
Abstract: The number of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) deployed especially in urban areas is growing. However, these networks are typically independent from each other and may cover the same or close areas. Our efforts in this field are focused on the collaboration of these independent networks, providing mechanisms to exchange information between them and to generate a more unified architecture for sensor network operation.
Title: P2P video streaming in mobile networks
Abstract: P2P has been proven to be an efficient architecture to provide download functionality to end users. More and more, it is also tested as an architecture for live or on-demand video streaming. With current technology advances in mobile devices, video streaming has become a popular application for them as well. Therefore, we are interested to research the effect of mobile peers on a video streaming overlay, considering their connection characteristics and their interaction with fixed-line peers. Moreover, we want to investigate the mechanisms necessary to support multi-homing peers.
