PROS
Original music is back.
Reduced light radius does make it a tad claustrophobic compared to D3 levels, which is a good thing.
Great chance to reminisce and remember the good old days.
The 8-directional movement isn't very noticeable unless you're channeling a spell.
The Butcher and Leoric got their classic look back.
FAILS (it's a looong read)
Many classic enemies return only in name. For example, Lightning Demons do not cast their trademark lightning bolt attack - they're just clones of the uber-dumb Terror Demons from Act4. Black Knights are merely recolored Revenant Soldiers from Act5 and they don't even have their legendary death animation. Oh and The Hidden in the Halls of the Blind? They're just the Accursed with the invisibility attribute......not impressed one bit.
The so-called retro-filters make the game look cheap. Even worse, game performance is significantly impacted. I know it's supposed to feel choppier because of the pseudo-retro junk, that's not what I'm talking about. Not only does it play clunkier but the game runs slower and performance is affected. Hitting the main D3 menu or minimizing the game while in the labyrinth makes the display lag like crazy. The silhouette of your hero and his/her pet is reduced to choppy slow motion.
We knew from the start that the dungeon would use D3 assets, but did they really have to just apply washed-out color filters to existing D3 levels instead of at least rearranging the layout of each floor to give it a somewhat different look? Everything in the dungeon looks like a halfassed rushjob.
Why are trademark items from original Diablo colored blue instead of being turned legendary? I didn't even notice I had picked up the Optic Amulet and Arkaine's Valor until my mouse accidentally hovered over them in my inventory. Same goes for the Butcher's Cleaver. Their stats really blow as well.
75% of each level is empty. I'll be lucky to kill 20 monsters in any given level, and the rest of it is just running through empty corridors. It's worse than the Cow Rift in terms of boredom.
If there was a point to the Map of the Stars item, I didn't see it. Running around town to revive the ghosts of long-dead NPCs and get Wirt's Leg plan to culminate in getting the star map when you salvage it to.........what? It's as pointless as the Black Rock Ledger.
The final fight against Diablo (who btw was a recolored Nekarat keywarden) is an utter joke. A teeny weeny itsy bitsy area consisting of a short corridor and 4 tiny rooms is supposed to be the grand finale of a 16-level anniversary event? All Nek.....erm, Diablo could do was throw lightning bolts at me.

CONTRAS
