Tras la salida de Ninja a principios de la off season, el último clasificado de la LCS NA ha fichado a Pirean (Phoenix1) y a Nisqy (Fnatic Academy) como sus nuevos midlaners para intentar mejorar sus resultados en la liga americana
Former Fnatic Academy mid laner Yasin "Nisqy" Dinçer and former Phoenix1 mid laner Choi "Pirean" Jun-sik will join Team EnVyUs, pending Riot approval, for the upcoming North American League of Legends Championship Series summer split starting June 2, the team confirmed Monday.
The reason behind two mid laners are potentially related to visa concerns around Nisqy, who has yet to obtain a P-1A internationally recognized athlete visa in the United States. Pirean, who has competed in the US since his joining Team Impulse in January 2016, already has visa clearance and is expected to play exclusively in the mid lane until Nisqy obtains a visa of his own.
Michael Moore, managing partner of Phoenix1, said "Even though we're very sad to see Pirean go, we wanted to let him go somewhere he would have a better opportunity to play on stage. He's been with P1 since Day 1 and he's always been a great teammate and a hard worker. We're grateful for his time with us and we wish him the best of luck!"
The transfer of the two players comes after each spent time bootcamping with the Team EnVyUs squad in South Korea over the past few weeks. The team additionally tried out several other mid laners during its time in Korea, including the likes of BPZ mid laner Heo "Cheong" Cheong and former FC Schalke 04 mid laner Marcin "SELFIE" Wolski.
Mike "Hastr0" Rufail, CEO Team EnVyUs, said "What ultimately made us make the decision on Nisqy was that we do one-on-ones sessions with every one of our players when we make a team decision, in terms of roster, and every single one of the players we talked to on our roster, basically, all agreed that Nisqy was extremely talented and even someone like Lira, who doesn't speak a lot of English, was saying that Nisqy is really skilled as a mid laner. When all of the players are in agreement that a player is really skilled, it's kind of an easy decision to make; he fit really well, played really well with our team, so that led us to make the decision to bring us on."
Hastr0 tweeted on Sunday about the chance of being able to work with less-seasoned players.
With the move, Nisqy will make his LCS debut in North America rather than Europe following the promotion and impending sale of the Fnatic Academy team. As for Pirean, transferring to Team EnVyUs comes after veteran mid laner Yoo "Ryu" Sang-ook in December took over his starting spot.
Team EnVyUs had its lowest placement in organization history, taking tenth in the NA LCS, forcing the team to fight for its spot in the promotion tournament. Following re-qualification into the LCS, the team parted ways with mid laner Noh "Ninja" Geon-woo.
