Gregg Popovich says he'd like to 'continue to coach' beyond this season
SAN ANTONIO -- Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said Saturday that he wants to continue coaching, in the face of speculation that he might consider retirement along with Tim Duncan should the Spurs capture their fifth franchise title. The Spurs are up 3-1 on the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals.
"I don't feel tired," Popovich said. "I mean, I'm tired today, but I mean in general. I'd like to continue to coach."
Friday a report surfaced that the Spurs expected Popovich to return. Duncan meanwhile deflected the question Saturday.
"I'm not saying I'm retiring, I'm not saying I'm not retiring, I'm not saying anything," Duncan said while emphasizing that any reports one way or the other are erroneous because he hasn't spoken with anyone on the subject.
