Woke up at 5:00am and took off charger w/ 100% battery on my 4s (Verizon). I've used it normally for music in the car and some text messaging. At the time of this comment (12:52pm), I have 84% battery left. Pretty good so far!
After installing 5.1 beta 1 my battery life on iphone 4S 64G has increased drastically. After 9 hours of moderate to heavy use I still had 49% battery. After 14 hours I received the 20% battery warning, little over 16 hours and it finally shut down.
I am using iPhone 4S, I also found that the battery performance of iOS 5.1 beta 1 is much better than the previous version, especially when standby mode.
I installed 5.1 yesterday night, let it charging and syncing the songs overnight (via wifi, the iPhone 4S in a dock) and unplugged it at 10 am. It's now 17:40 and it still has 91% of the battery. I haven't used it much today, no 3G data, for instance, as I've been working at home all day so only WiFi is needed, but it feels much better than before
I've been running iOS 5.1 for two days now and have seen a drastic increase in battery life as well as more reliable cell/data connectivity. So far, I'm very happy.
My battery (4S) is certainly improved compared to 5.0.1. Phone currently has about 20% charge left since coming of charge yesterday morning. , this is with some 3G music listening, some wifi radio playing, a handful of phone calls occasional mail checks (manual for 2 IMAP and push on iCloud), Bluetooth off, Notifications on, 2 alarms on, Photostream on (3 photos uploaded) some Siri usage and about 10 minutes of game playing.
I agree. Battery life if much better..
I had 27 hours stand by, and a hair over 6 hours usage before I hit 20% last night. I'd say it's a big improvement.
Battery performance does feel "a lot" better then 5.0/5.0.1. Will be doing more testing the next few days and post more details backing up this.
Day 3 with 5.1 beta 1 on iPhone 4S, and the 4. First the 4, with the initial relaeas of iOS 5 my phone was fine, 5.0.1 cause some serious battery issues. i am happy to report that along with fixing the battery drain issue in 5.0.1, beta 5.1 has some underlying refinements that are very evident. [...] Now the 4S; the battery life is greatly improved but still not in the same class with the iPhone 4, which may be as good as it gets
Battery performance on my 4Gs appears to be much Improved with 5.1. The only thing I changed was to turn off all Facebook push notifications. So far I've gone from a full charge last night at 9:00 pm until 4:30 pm today and run down to 40%. That's with fetch of email once an hour, several 45 minute phone calls, texting, surfing, Facebook and Bluetooth on since 8 am. I also used Siri a fair bit today. 20 hours of regular use and only down to 40%. I'm very, very impressed so far. Your mileage may vary....
My battery experience with 5.1 on a 4S (Telekom) on Day 3 is better again. No sign of yesterdays odd usage.
Currently:
Remaining 55%
Usage: 4h 3minutes
Standby 15h 48 minutes
