#2106 Thank you so much to for look over!! (that phrasal verb is 'Repasar'? Am I wrong?

Now, I am with the future (will, going to), present simple (the train leaves at 15:00 tomorrow), present continuous (I'm meeting my friends tomorrow at 16:00.) and some phrasal verbs, I need help with them... these are the phrasal verbs: (sounds bad... I wanna say (estos son los phrasal verbs), it's ok?, thank you again hahaha)

  • look through (I think that's 'read quickly' )
  • looking into (i think that's 'investigating' )
  • looking for ( " " 'searching for' )
  • look after ( " " 'take care of' )
  • look round (" " 'respect' )
  • look up to (" " 'inspect, visit' )

Am I wrong? And I'm plenty of doubts but I don't wanna disturb you :P.

Thanks!

#2107 You can check the following link to see the thousands of different uses and meanings of Look+something else, with examples! Just scroll down and check what you need :) there are so many phrasal verbs that it's almost impossible for a non native person to know them all, so don't get worried about it :P

http://www.wordreference.com/es/translation.asp?tranword=Look

It seems that look over is correct in this case :D

"Now, I am with the future"

That sounds like the future and you are in the same room doing something together. You can't translate everything literally word by word!. Also, you may have plenty of doubts, or you can be doubtful, but you are not a doubt yourself, are you?

#2108 Thank you again :P.

#2109 Yes... I didn't think about it... so.. I can say 'Now, I'm studying future tense', is it ok?
And.. I suppose that I should say I'm not a doubt.. but I think that I'm a big doubt with arms and legs :wtf: .
But yep, I understood you, thank you too!

Hi all.

Which is the difference between "stuff" and "thing", i know "stuff" is for countless things and "thing" for accounting things but in plural don't matter if these things are countless or accounting.

So for example "cakes" could be "What is this stuff?" & "What are these things?", it's ok?

#2111 I'm not sure, but I think "stuff" is more colloquial than "thing". I remember that I helped one of my students to write a composition and I told him to write "stuff", and then his teacher corrected it and wrote: "stuff is too colloquial". So it depends on the situation.

I'd like to know what is difference between "grace" and "highness".

When you're talking, for instance, with the King or the Prince, What is the correct form: "Your grace" or "Your highness"?

Thank you all

I don't know the difference, but in Game of thrones they always say "your grace" when talking to the king or the queen. I don't remember about the prince, but sure they never say "your highness" to any one.

Noble women are referred as my lady, and men as my lord.

Sorry for this stupid question, but I can not remember how to write "adhoc" properly.

any help? please

#2115 But... ad hoc is a latin phrase, not an English one, isn't it?

I am not sure, however I am quite sure is that English people use it a lot, specially, you can see it in job offers.

in this offer, you have a couple of examples:

http://www.reed.co.uk/jobs/senior-finance-analyst-publishing/22504063#/jobs?keywords=ad%20hoc&pagesize=100

I have seen that you are talking about expressions, well, I know the meaning of this one, but I would like to know if anybody else know it.

Full speed ahead.

The meaning of it is in the spoiler

#2116 Yes, and translated should be something like "For this", basically means that this "ad hoc - something - " it's meant just for the specified, but it's also used on computers for networking.

#2117 Wild guess here, on those offers looks like "ad hoc" stands for certain situations on the financial scenarios.

As I said, I'm just guessing, since I know nothing about economics.

Intriga

i know the meaning of ad hoc, what i didnt know was how to write it

Here's other song that I really LOVE.

It couldn't be better... It's perfect.

So never mind the darkness,
we still can find a way.
