I've been playing more with Contrast paints, but this time it's a bit more involved, so these results aren't one coat I've always wanted a goblin army, so I'm seeing if the new paints will help.
I primed the model black and then used a top right highlight with my airbrush using Wraithbone base, and a softer one from the bottom left upwards. After that I gave the whole model a coat of Contrast Magos Purple. The pre-shade made such a big difference to the lighting. After that I mixed some of the Wraithbone with some Magos Purple to emphasise the highlights and add dots on the belly, followed by some straight Wraithbone and white.
The wooden staff was Contrast Wyldwood which I then painted details over with Balor Brown, Zandri Dust and Ushabti Bone, followed by some Contrast Plaguebearer Flesh in places to tint the colours.
The rocky skin parts were airbrushed Aethermatic Blue, which due to the translucency worked nicely as I could still see the highlights beneath, which allowed me to pick them out with Barroth Blue and a bit of white.
The bandages are just one coat of Contrast Skeleton Horde with extra details squiggled on with Zandri Dust and Ushabti Bone.
The big rock on his club was just standard painting, using mixes of Sotek Green, Barroth Blue, Blue Horror and white.
I finally gave the model a coat of matte varnish to even out the paint finish. The Contrast paints can be a bit satin in the shaded areas.
