Entrevista a un streamer kr que juega support Bardo:
- Could you talk a little about what kind of role/class 'Support' is in Lost Ark?
Supports can give shields, damage reduction, and all kinds of buffs/debuffs to help the raid. It's definitely the ultimate support, as the name implies.
What are the pros/cons of playing a support?
Supports are really required in raids so it's easy to find a group. A downside is that solo content like Tower and Seat of Authority can be a little difficult.
- How does a Lost Ark support differ from healers in other MMOs? Are they the same?
I think they're a little different. In Lost Ark you have to play more actively because of the Identity Gauge system, so you need to contribute both offensively and defensively as a support.
- Is playing a support in endgame content more difficult compared to DPS?
I think it depends on the character and the person but I think it's similar or even a little easier to play a support. For example as a Bard, due to your engravings (explained more in video), you are a lot tankier so you don't die as much.
- I heard Support is easy to learn but hard to master, what do you think about that?
I think so too. You need to know all the boss' patterns as a support, whether or not your DPS players have used their main skills or not, and you need to have good communication skills. I think support is the class that requires you to have the fastest eyes.
- If you had to recommend support to someone, who would you recommend it to?
Since solo content is a little hard, I would recommend support to people who like playing in a group. People who like helping others, people who have good eyes (can see many things at once), and people who are good at multi-tasking and reading boss patterns.
- Could you talk a little about the difference between Bard and Paladin?
I think Bards are good for giving continuous buffs, and Paladins are a little better during burst DPS windows. Also Bards have a burstier heal but Paladins heal is quite slow (heal over time). Most people didn't really think Paladin heal was very good, but it got a buff recently.
- Is there a more preferred class for raids between the two supports?
Honestly both Bard and Paladin don't have problems getting into raids, even though Paladins didn't really have a good reputation.
- Can you elaborate more on why Paladins didn't have a good reputation?
I think the heal amount was the biggest factor. It's slow and you don't really notice your HP going up. Other than that there wasn't really anything else.
- I heard Bards are preferred for try parties and difficult content that needs lots of protection, and Paladins are preferred in experienced parties.
Oh yeah, I think that's true as well. I definitely think Paladins are a little better in static groups, highly experienced groups, etc.
- Can Gunlancers also be considered a support?
Ah.. people have a lot to say about Gunlancers. I think it's definitely a DPS class but it is considered a semi-support. When we can't find a support it's common to bring one or even two Gunlancers instead.
- Is it difficult to main support?
Like I said before solo content can be a little hard. Also you can't really participate in rotation parties because it's hard to carry 3 people as a support. (More detail in full vid).
- What about DPS Bard or Paladin?
DPS Paladin isn't really seen. DPS Bard is only possible because of a T3 Relic Set (Fascination Instinct). I think you do 80% of a DPS class' damage. Without that set I don't really think it's correct to make a DPS Bard. People usually recommend making another DPS character if you want to do that.
- Last message for NA/EU players?
Players in Lost Ark treat supports really well. I think you can have a good time if you play support. In KR we don't have enough support players in high level content, so sometimes you have to wait 30+ minutes to find one. I hope in the West lots of people can play support!
