Los chicos de SpeedRunsLive y Speed Demos Archive, junto a la comunidad speedrunner, nos vuelven a presentar un año más su maratón veraniego para recaudar fondos que serán destinados a la labor humanitaria que realiza Medicos Sin Fronteras. El maratón, al igual que su hermano mayor invernal, no para de crecer en popularidad rompiendo cada vez que se realiza el record anterior de espectadores y donaciones.

Este año he podido seguir bastante de cerca el día a día de la gestación de este maratón desde los foros de SDA. El proceso de selección de juegos se ha realizado con dos fases de corte que las sugerencias enviadas por diversos speedrunners han debido de superar. Si observamos la programación se ve claramente que el objetivo principal de la organización de cara a este verano era incluir maratones de juegos que no pasaron el corte de AGDQ 2014 y cuyos runs fuesen relativamente cortos de duración.
Así y tras numerosos cortes nos ha quedado una programación donde predominan los runs que bajan de la hora y algunos que echabamos de menos en maratones anteriores, como son Tombi/Tombi2, Castlevania 64, etc.
Seguimos teniendo bloque de Megaman, de Super Mario y de The Legend of Zelda, siendo esta vez el destacado de este último el run de Skyward Sword (el cual dura nada más y nada menos que unas seis horitas). Los fans de Final Fantasy serán recompensados esta vez con un run de Final Fantasy VI 100% realizado en cooperativo por puwexil y Essentia, dos de los runners con más renombre de la comunidad.
