The Spanish organization x6tence recently defeated the Russian powerhouse Moscow 5 in a Best-of-3 match for the EMS Season IX Grand Final netting them a nice € 2.500 prize. How did x6tence dominate Moscow 5 in this final? And who is the player behind the name BarBeQ?

Our own Bram 'Oxb' Kilsdonk was able to speak with BarBeQ.

BarbeQ, welcome! Congratulations on your victory over Moscow 5! How do you feel?

BarBeQ: We feel great. We were motivated because we were facing one of the strongest teams in Europe and winning was a little bit surprising and awesome.

Yeah it was a great match, you stomped them 2-0. how did you defeat the IEM winners so easily?

BarBeQ: It wasn't as easy as the screenshots say. Even when we were winning by far in kills, they were near us in money because of their farm. If you see that you are winning for 2 drakes and 7 kills and the other team is still in the game is really scary. And that's the thing against the pro teams even if you win by far, you can still lose by a teamfight. But yes, we were so motivated and focused, nothing more to say.

Was it something specifically that won you the game? Or was it just the motivation and focus?

BarBeQ: Inside the game we just changed the present meta somehow. We were thinking that if we play in the normal way, we were just going to lose as they are supposed to be stronger. So we tried to do a lot of ganks playing champs like Nocturne or Twisted Fate, roaming and doing things as 4 or 5 so we can surprise them and do things like drake or push the lanes. And that's how it worked in both games, we were using timings of drake to gank bottom and force it and things like that.

This victory made you winner of the ESL Major Series IX and netted a nice 2500 €. But people might still not know you. Can you tell me a bit about yourself and your team?

BarBeQ: I am Ernesto "BarbeQ" Folch and I am 23 years old. I am a student and I play AD carry for nearly 1 year now. I've been in x6tence for 9 months. With the old line up we won the Spanish EPS and some other Spanish tournaments and we ended second in AAL. With the new line up we were just getting ready for qualifiers and we didn’t have much success, but we were considered of the strongest teams in Spain with players like Babeta or Samux from the old MYM. Sadly now, I left the team because we got differences between some players and we decided to fix it like that, wish all luck to them.

So did you just leave the team because of these differences or did more members leave the team?

BarBeQ: The other 4 will stay as a team. Even though we were strong as a team, the situation was just unbearable, so we decided to change something. It was better that I left than to split the team, even I agreed on that. So it ends like that, me looking for offers for other teams and they are looking for an AD carry.

Okay so you are looking for a new team now. What are your goals to achieve in the future?

BarBeQ: I just want to be on a team that has chances to win against everyone and be in big LAN events to compete for everything. That's my goal and it is every pro's goal I think.

BarBeQ: I would place my bet on AL or CLG.eu if they keep together, that's the key for success in LoL. Being a real good team and being together.
