So, the last Season 3 finals game of GMB has concluded. We lost in the quarterfinals. I’d like to ask Alex not to get upset over it. I’m sure he understands himself, that this result is rather expected.
Let’s return for a second to Gamescom 2013. In particular, to a match that decided who will go to the finals - GMB or EG. We snatched that victory by the skin of our teeth. A hard-won victory that was “washed” by the winning team captain’s tears. After that, the fans realized that it’ll be a miracle for us to advance from the group stages, yet they still hoped and rooted. We did it. We snatched another victory there, taking it from Ozone’s hands. But afterwards…
Advancing to semifinals in GMB’s current form and with their current training would be miraculously lucky and impossibly bold. Yes, we could have done it, victory was close. Yet, last year, first place in World’s was closer than today – 5-8.
There’s no point in looking for the guilty one. Voidle was too nervous, Genja didn’t find common ground with yet another support, Alex is just not the same, Diamond doesn’t gank, Darien feeds… Yet when we win – why does everyone forget about these mistakes? They don’t just disappear. Mistakes were always there, even back in M5. It’s just that we’d be forgiven for them. And now it’s “sorry, play and give it your all, or your place will be taken by those, who do it better.”
The only thing that’s sad is that if GMB would be in Europe geographically, then we’d have every chance to take the World’s Cup. Yet all the flights and travel that were taking their toll on team’s health (chronic cold that players have gotten – that’s just one of the minor issues), insufficient training (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), reduced brain activity due to the previous two factors and, therefore, absence of new ideas, tactics, disappearance of an all-important creativity [flexibility]. You just can’t recover from all that during the one month of bootcamping. While other teams were flexible and were reacting to the changing meta – we had to react irregularly, in “jumps”, in-between the 15-hour travel in one direction. These Spartan conditions could be justified, if they wouldn’t just fall on GMB’s shoulders. Yet only our guys have shown the miracles of endurance and skill simultaneously. And then, miracles of inventiveness, while looking for a new support.
So, all things considered, all that can be said is thanks that we could even see Russians in the finals.
I hope that next season will have a less exhausting.
#32957 Darien feeds....
