The Royal Blues have decided not to renewal the contract with Elias "Upset" Lipp beyond the agreed period. The 19-year-old leaves the League of Legends team of the miners.
“Over the last years, Elias has developed enormously and his career is an excellent example of the sustainable work that Schalke 04 is doing in esports. We helped Elias on his way from a talented newcomer to an established pro and helped him make progress – be it as a person or as a player. We as a club are particularly proud of that,” said Tim Reichert, Chief Gaming Officer of the miners. “We wish Elias all the best for his future.”
Lipp, who played as “Upset” for FC Schalke 04 Esports, has been with the Royal Blue since spring 2017. Only a few months later, the miners announced the premature contract renewal with the then 17-year-olds. The following year, game developer Riot Games considered “Upset” with the “Player of the Split” award, rewarding the youngster’s outstanding achievements in the summer split 2018. Of the past two years, Schalke’s League of Legends team each qualified successfully for the European Leauge of Legends summer finals.
