Video Card Settings
Now there is a bug in windows xp that does not allow over 60hz aka 60fps unless vsync is off, which in
shadowbane it is not, so you need to go here [ http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?id=5 ] and download either of the 2 nVidia refresh rate fix tools, its a one time install and uses no rescources. Now on to the video card settings. On the same window that you selected "Monitor" tab , you should now see a tab that says your specific card on it, click on that one. Now you will have a window that shows your video card information
and a menu of sorts on the left hand side of the screen, and go to Performance & Quality - checkmark the box
that says "Show Advanced Settings" - if ANY of the boxes are set to "Application-Controlled" uncheck that box so
you may manually select the settings to use. Settings Below
-Antialiasing Settigns - OFF
-Anisotropic Filtering - OFF
-Image Settings - High Performance
Vertical Sync - OFF (set to alwasy off)
Now on to color correction, and this is just a personal thing of mine. Its called "Digital Vibrance" it greatly
enhances the colors for a much higher contrast ration (meaning the difference between whites and blacks for
example is greater noticed when the setting is raised. Digital Vibrance is on "0" or "Low" by default and you
may not even notice how drab your colors are, personally I slide the bar exactly in the middle or "Medium"
setting, any more seems to drastic of a change. In shadowbane this greatly helps see players and shields as
spells and shield colors are usualy bright and the terrain is darker colored.
After that go to "Refresh Rate Overrides" and check the circle that says "Override Refresh Rates" and set the
rate for your resolution to match that of what was selected in your monitor tab, previously in this guide, apply settings and thats it.
In Game Settings
-Settings
I use 1280x1024 and get good FPS, so I will list my settings and why I personally use them.
System Settings
-uncheck personal light
-uncheck show weather
Video Settings
-uncheck texture compression
-video bitdepth = 16bit (not 32)
-z-buffer depth = 16bit (not 32)
-uncheck terrain LOD
-terrain detail = 0
-terrain size = medium
-refinement range = 750
-gamma = 0.50 (much easier to see ingame)
-particle density - 9-11% (this saves HUGE FPS, 9% is the lowest you can go and still see the spell effects, i
use 25%)
-detail texture = medium (huge FPS saver also, personally I use high but you need a beffy pc to do so, medium is
a good setting as you can barely tell the diff in qual between medium and high)
-dynamic lighting = low
-view angle = 90 (the higher = you see more around your player, and can zoom out farther, trust me 90 might
seem weird at first but et used to it, it will save your life when playing or pking.
-shadowing distance = 0
-realtime character shadows = uncheck all 3 selection boxes
Sound Settings
-music = off (turn off music as it is really not required and has 0% to do with the game, it saves a bit of
recources.
